The mystery of the Bermuda triangle

Many of you may be already familiar with this mysterious piece of land, many ships and planes have disappeared without any trace of the wreck while many have sighted mysterious occurrences happening in the Bermuda triangle.

Location:

Although no sources confirm its exact location nor this is recognized by any world maps, it roughly lies in between Florida, Puerto Rico and Bermuda in the form of a triangle.

Disappearances:

Till the early 1940’s majority of the population did not notice the pattern of disappearances of many cargo vehicles within this region until Charles Berlitz popularized the legend of Bermuda triangle with his bestselling book the Bermuda triangle which was released in 1974, and several disappearances of ships and aeroplanes occurred within a short time although many ships have returned safely after travelling through the Bermuda triangle, here are a few notable disappearances which led to its name “The Devil’s Triangle”.

1. In the year of 1895, the first man to sail solo around the world, Joshua Slocum vanished on a voyage from Martha’s Vineyard to South America.

2. In 1918, the US navy’s largest ship, the USS Cyclops, disappeared on a sail from the Caribbean to Baltimore with more than 300 crew members without leaving a single trace of a wreck.

3. Within 1 month 2 ships vanished in the Bermuda triangle, the first ship was the USS Proteus which carried more than 50 passengers and a cargo of ore and the second was its sister, the USS Nereus, which carried 60+ passengers and disappeared on the same route.

4. In 1945, flight 19 which was scheduled to complete a three-hour exercise which was mainly conducting bomb runs mysteriously vanished in the Atlantic Ocean before completing their mission. This was the incident from which people began to notice the pattern of disappearances in the region of the Bermuda triangle.

Misconceptions:

Many believe that once we enter the Bermuda triangle we could not come back alive, which is so not true, Bermuda triangle witnesses heavy traffic both by sea and air despite its reputation and is one of the most heavily travelled shipping lanes in the world.

Many scientists refuse to believe in the phenomenon of the Bermuda triangle and say that the wreck was either a result of bad weather or human error.

The audience stands divided, where some believe in “the phenomenon of the Bermuda triangle” others believe it was just a result of the bad weather.
