As with the many changes in life, there are seemingly quite some positive and negative impacts on our society that AI continues to make. There can be a huge number of examples supporting the fact above. These might be from day-to-day life or professionally. Vacuum bots (such as the Roomba980, which uses AI to scan the surface area of the room in order to vacuum clean it) are one such example of AI that are used in day to day lives.

I personally think that AI will have a positive impact in the future because we can already see that AI is helping greatly in many industries such as the production industry where it is helping in heavy lifting which has significantly decreased deaths of workers.
HISTORY OF AI
The term ‘Artificial Intelligence’ was officially coined on August 31,1955. A discovery made by Norbert Wiener influenced much of the early development of AI. He was one of the first to theorize that all intelligent behavior was the result of feedback mechanisms. ‘The Logical Theorist’ was a further step towards the development of modern AI. It was designed by Newell and Simon in 1955 it may be considered the first AI program.
For those of you who don’t know what the logical theorist is, it is basically a program that represents each problem as a tree model and you could attempt to solve it by selecting a branch that would most likely result in the correct conclusion.
While more programs were developed, the creation of LISP (List Processing) language by John McCarthy in 1958 was a major breakthrough in the history of AI. Interestingly, LISP is still being used in the modern world.
MAJOR INVENTIONS IN THE FIELD OF AI
There have been several inventions that have influenced our present world greatly. Lets take a look at some of these inventions.
THE FIRST NEURAL NETWORK: “Neural Network” is the fancy name that scientists gave to trial and error, the key concept to unbolted modern AI. When it comes to training an AI, the best way to do it is to have the system make a guess, receive the feedback, and then guess again; continuously shifting the possibilities that it will eventually get to the right answer. This network might as well be the main cause of the development of other technologies.
THE SELF-DRIVING CAR: Amazingly way back in 1995, Mercedes-Benz managed to drive a modified S-Class mostly autonomously all the way from Munich to Copenhagen. The journey was made by stuffing effectively a supercomputer into the boot - the car contained 60 transputer chips, which were a state of the art at that time.
SIRI: This amazing piece of technology was developed by SRI International and was also released as a separate app on the iOS app store. Apple was the first and the quickest to get its hands on this piece of technological software and integrated it deeply in the phones’ software. Siri has changed the way we interact with our devices with consideration of the past and the present.
SOPHIA THE A.I. ROBOT: She is the first robot citizen of the world. Sophia is a social humanoid robot developed by Hong Kong-based company Hanson Robotics. She has the amazing ability to imitate human gestures and make simple conversations (for eg: weather) and also answer some of the simple questions.

PROSTHETICS: This invention has greatly helped humanity. Prosthetics have been in use since Götz von Berlichingen, made it at the beginning of the 16th century, although it was not as developed as it is now. Some theories also suggest that the first use of prosthetics was confirmed to be around 950–710 BC. They have helped war veterans who had unfortunately lost their arms or limbs and also differently abled people; helped them walk. Hearing aids are also AI based prosthetics that adjust the sound according to the environment.
3D PRINTING: 3d printing has changed the world for craftsmen and people who sell figurines; may it be action figures or decorative figures.

There are a lot more advancements in the field of A.I., and all of them cannot be discussed in one blog. I might write separate blogs in detail on some of the inventions.
PREDICTIONS OF A.I.’S FUTURE
1. Advanced human augmentation.
2. Creation and helping in jobs.
3. A.I. assistants in areas of need such as hospitals, etc.
4. Enhancement of Sophia and likewise the development of other robots.
5. Robot caretakers (for eg: baymax from big hero six).
